Overview

Ensemble is a Markdown-native workspace for documents, collaboration, and AI-assisted knowledge work. This Privacy Policy explains how GBU Labs collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use Ensemble's website, web app, desktop app, sync services, and related APIs.

If you use Ensemble through an organization or shared workspace, your workspace administrators and collaborators may be able to access content and activity associated with that workspace.

Information We Collect

Account and Contact Information

We collect information you provide when creating or using an account, including your email address, name, authentication details, workspace membership, and support communications.

Google User Data

If you choose to sign in with Google, Ensemble receives the Google account information needed to authenticate you, such as your email address, name, profile image, and stable Google account identifier. We use this information only to sign you in, create and secure your Ensemble account, display your identity inside the product, prevent abuse, and provide support.

Ensemble does not use Google user data for advertising, does not sell Google user data, and does not use Google user data to train generalized AI or machine learning models. Ensemble's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Workspace and Document Data

We collect and store the documents, comments, metadata, file paths, workspace settings, sync state, attachments, and related content that you create, upload, edit, share, or sync through Ensemble.

Device, Usage, and Diagnostic Data

We collect technical information such as IP address, browser or device type, operating system, app version, log events, crash or diagnostic reports you submit, request identifiers, and product usage events. We use analytics tools only to understand product health, reliability, and feature usage.

• Maintain, debug, protect, and improve Ensemble.

How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information. We share information only as needed to operate Ensemble, at your direction, or as required by law.

• Service providers: hosting, authentication, storage, analytics, logging, email delivery, and customer support providers.
• Workspace participants: content, comments, profile details, and activity may be visible to people you collaborate with or invite.
• Integrations you authorize: when you connect Ensemble to another app or AI client, we share the information needed for that integration to work.
• Legal and safety purposes: we may disclose information to comply with law, protect rights and safety, investigate abuse, or complete a merger, acquisition, financing, or similar business transaction.

Storage, Security, and Retention

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, so you should also protect your account credentials and devices.

We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide Ensemble, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, maintain backups, prevent abuse, and enforce agreements. We may retain aggregated or de-identified information that no longer identifies you.

Your Choices and Rights

You can update certain account information in the product or by contacting us. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, object to, or restrict processing of your personal information.

To request access, correction, deletion, export, or another privacy action, contact us at hello@gbulabs.com. We may ask for information needed to verify your identity and the scope of your request.

Cookies and Analytics

Ensemble uses cookies and similar technologies for authentication, security, preferences, analytics, and product reliability. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling some cookies may prevent Ensemble from working correctly.

Children

Ensemble is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to Ensemble, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

International Transfers

Ensemble and its service providers may process information in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, and other countries where we or our providers operate. These countries may have data protection laws different from those where you live.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date and provide additional notice when appropriate.
